My BIG boy!!!

So.... Daylon is 8 years old today!! I can hardly believe it either. He's SOOO big- he weighs 86 pounds and is 4'4" (less than a foot shorter than me!) He just takes after Matt in that he is SOLID- he doesn't look that big.

Here are some pictures of him growing up.

He's ALWAYS loved Matt!!

Something to do...

I've never seen some of these questions so I figured "why not?!" ;-) (And I'm bored....)

What do you drink with dinner?:
Diet Coke, Diet Dr. Pepper, milk, or water. Just depends on my mood.

What do you dip a chicken nugget in?:
BBQ sauce

What is your favorite type of food/cuisine?:
Mexican food

What movies could you watch over and over and still love?
The Sound of Music, The Notebook, The Guardian, Fools Rush In... and probably others I can't think of right now!

Were you in sports in high school?
Tennis

Were you a boy/girl scout?
Yeppers. I was in girl scouts for what?? Like 3 or 4 years maybe.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?:
Last month to mail pictures of the boys to family members.

Ever gotten a speeding ticket?:
Yeah. Like 2 or 3 now.

Ran out of gas?
No, not personally. But when I was pregnant with Daylon (like 7 months), we were with Matt's mom and step-dad in Dallas going to a funeral, and his step-dad ran out of gas. It sucked.

Just about EVERY sandwich is my favorite. I'm a carb-a-holic.

Best thing to eat for breakfast?:
Cereal. Doesn't really matter what kind. (Back to that carb-a-holic thing...)

What is your usual bedtime?:
Between 10 and 12.

Are you lazy?:
Yeck yeah! I love to lay around reading, or doing nothing at all.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?:
Matt would say I'm an introvert. I guess he's probably right on that one, but sometimes when I'm in the mood (and usually with friends) then I'm a big extrovert!

What's your favorite mixed drink?:
Right now it's Jose Cuervo Black and Diet Coke. I also LOVE Big Red and coconut rum.

A clown (I think I was a clown for a few years in a row!), a present (wrapped a box, made holes in it, and then put it on me), ummm... can't remember anything else!

Do you read the newspaper?:
I GET the newspaper every day but usually just read it online. Except on Sunday- I like looking at the advertisments. :-)

Two. English and Kidspeak. Believe me, Kidspeak is a whole other language parents have to learn. (Okay, I can UNDERSTAND some spanish too, but can't speak it for nothing.)

Do you have any magazine subscriptions?

I love my children and all....

.... but I have a feeling this is going to be a LOOOONNNNNGGGGG summer with all four of them at home! I wish I could find a MDO program for the summer just so I could get a little break and be able to go to the store without them touching EVERYTHING they see while we're there! Ugg!! Not to mention just ONCE I would like to pee in private without someone knocking on the bathroom door saying "Mama, what are you DOING in there?!" What do they THINK I'm doing in there?????

I'm going to at least have to find several summer camps for Daylon, Jace, and Kelton to go to. Otherwise they are going to be SOOO bored.

And I'll be crazy.

Mothers Day

Just now getting a chance to post this.

Blayden LOVED sticking his face in the water!

My baby is getting so big!!!

Handsome Daylon

Update (read previous post)

Well, Matt finally got home about 2 hours after he got hit last night.

The cops got there and Matt and the cops walked around the baseball fields looking for this guy (Matt said he had an idea what he looked like). They didn't find him so they made an announcement saying they were looking for him.

Well, the guy doesn't show up (apparently he was at a different baseball park than where they were looking for him at, right next to it) so Matt suggested they go back to the truck because the games were getting out and this guy might be trying to leave.

Sure enough, they start walking that way and Matt sees the guy in his truck trying to leave! Matt told the cop and the cop took off running to the guy, told him to stop the car, etc, etc, etc.

Well, it was a kid- 18 years old- who was up there watching his little brother play baseball. He told the cop that he did NOT hit Matt's truck, but then asked to call his mom on his cell phone because he was supposed to be meeting her for supper. The cop told him he could call her, so he does, and proceeds to tell her "remember that truck I told you I hit?" not knowing that both Matt and the cop could hear him.

So now he's in trouble for lying to the cop!

Anyway, long story short. Well, shortER. ;-)

It ends up that the street that he hit Matt on is "private property" somehow, so Matt was able to choose to press charges or not. Matt decided not to (the kid was crying and scared, the mom showed up and she was crying, the cop already had the kid in hand cuffs b/c he had lied to him and he had taken him back over to the "scene of the crime," and Matt was just tired of messing with it- not to mention that Matt's been in sort of the same situation when he was younger and he felt bad for the kid.)

Matt just told him to MAKE SURE that if he ever hit anyone to STOP! I think the kid just got scared and freaked out, ya know?? I'm just not sure why his MOM didn't tell him to try to find Matt, or at least the truck that he hit though. Great parenting out there!!

But, that's that!! ;-) (Sorry so long!!)

CRAZINESS!!!!

Well..... We've been super busy the last few weeks getting the new building ready to open this coming Sunday. And I mean SUPER busy. It's going well, just slower than we had hoped (of course) and there is still a lot to do. I've been to at least 3 or 4 places a day this week (plus the office) and all with at least 3 kids, sometimes 4, with me. Not fun.

And then we have had Daylon's baseball games almost every other night, so that's been nuts (and he's been in a "slump" and not been playing great so that sucks).

And now is not the best time of the month for me and I have just about had it with the boys. They're driving me bonkers!!!!!

Oh! And we had Daylon's game tonight. Matt showed up late to the game and parked on the side of the road, almost to the main (busy) road, right? So after the game he helped me take all of the boys to my car and then I drove him over to his. I called him a minute after I dropped him off to ask about supper and to see if he was going to stop by the new office. We were talking and he said "oh crap, I'm going to get hit!" Sure enough, this truck hits him. I turned around to go make sure it wasn't anything bad, but he was pulling out when I got to him and no one else was around so I figured it was all good, and headed back home. He calls me a minute later to tell me that the guy who hit him broke his back tail light and then DROVE OFF! There were several other people that saw the guy do this, and one of the moms we know followed the guy and saw where he parked at the other parking lot and told Matt. By this time the guy has gotten out though and isn't around. So... Matt calls the cops and tells them about it. Well, it's been an hour and a half and I hadn't heard from Matt so I called him and he said the cops had JUST gotten there!!! Ugg!!!! So, I guess we'll see what they have to say!!!

This is my life!!!!!! UGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got admitted to A&M!

Well, I've known for almost a week now, but I was waiting for family members to get their "notice" in the mail! ;-) (I sent my dad and grandparents a car decal that said "Texas A&M Aggie Dad" / "Grandparents.")

Anyway, I was just SOO glad to finally find out for sure- I sent in my application in January! I will be transferring into the Education department and will be going for Childhood Education- Pre-K through 4th grade. HOWEVER, I am seriously thinking about "specializing" in learning disabilities. I figure if I have to learn about some of the learning disablitities (dyslexia, ADD, etc) to help Daylon, maybe I can eventually help other kids too. That's just a thought for right now though- nothing set in stone.

I'm waiting to hear back from A&M about the date for my New Student Conference (two days long), and then I'll meet with an advisor and get my schedule figured out. Once THAT happens, I'll figure out what I'm going to do with Kelton and Blayden while I'm in school. I would really LOVE to be able to go to school full time starting in the fall and get it over with! (I have 69 hours, so I'm a Junior, and I need 129 hours total for my degree plan. That seems like it's going to take FOREVER if I don't get on it!!!!)

But... Yippee for me!!! :-)

Daylon

Well, we have it confirmed that Daylon does have Dyslexia. I'm just SO glad to know what it is. Now all we have to do is come up with different ways to help him. BYW, I LOVE Scottish Rite in Dallas- everyone there was awesome and so helpful. Wish us luck on the road ahead (and wish me luck in finding more about it and how to help him!!!)
